This morning I went to the market to buy chips and flour for the Navaratri fast that we were observing. It was difficult due to the lockdown, but after searching for a while, I finally found what I needed – and being a greedy person, bought all the chips the store had. Just as I was to enter the car, I noticed a small boy, maybe ten, looking at the packets of chips that I had. So I asked him what happened, and he indicated the packs in my hand. So I gave him two, and he was pleased. Talking to him, I realized that he was the son of a daily wager and that his family was deeply affected by the lockdown – and that by buying more than I needed I took someone else’s share.
