A few days ago, I shared a Rak story on the Black Lotus app about the students of Chhaimarua S.B. School at Killa, Tripura. Another BL user, from Chandigarh, inspired by this story, contacted me to inquire if there was anything that he could do for the kids. I immediately talked to the Headmaster and other teachers at the school to decide what else the students would need.
The school, situated on a hill, has no metalled road linked to it. It is tough to reach as we have to trek up a steep mud path. And during the rains, the way becomes a muddy river. But nothing can stop these resilient kids from going to their school. Every single day, most of these kids walk barefoot to the school. Moreover, very few have school bags to carry their books, which would have made their difficult journey to the school a little easier.
On 31 December 2019, my younger brother and I drove to the school and were delighted to see that all the students were present. We distributed a school bag, a pair of shoes, and a few stationery items to each student. Then they were treated to sweets and chocolates. An effulgent smile played on their faces as they shyly received their gifts from us.
I express my heartfelt gratitude to the BL user for his support.
