Since we shifted to Chandigarh a year ago, the person who helps us with the housework, Gayatri aunty, comes every day as do her daughters after school. Be it rain, chilling cold weather of the hot summer winds, she rings the bell at 7 am sharp, wish us and gets on with her work. Huddled in my quilt, I have often wondered how difficult it must be to carry on day after day with the same routine. In sincere appreciation of the work they all do, this new year, we packed a home-cooked meal and took all of them to a garden nearby for a picnic. We sang, danced, and visited the ISKCON temple afterward. All in all, a great day!
