I was angry at someone and moved away look after giving them a look of anger. But forgiveness was at the back of my mind, especially as I had just read Swamiji’s book, A Million Thoughts.
And I decided to forgive him, which was easy, but the anger and thoughts were still inside me. So I tried small mindfulness exercise:
1. Rather than saying I am angry, I said: ‘I am feeling the emotion of anger’.
2. Then I sat down to feel this emotion in my body. I found I had a heavy head.
3. Then I forced a smile on my face – which promptly eased the heaviness.
Because you can’t smile and be angry at the same time.
